The Uzumé Dance Company    (2005–2014)

The Uzumé Dance Company, led by the inventive Tjarda, was a groundbreaking force in contemporary fusion bellydance, blending elements of the past, present, and future. Known for their fluid, symphonic choreography, the group toured the world, captivating audiences with their innovative performances. Over the years, Tjarda collaborated with talented partners, including Renate (Maya Acid, NL) and Caterina Grimani (IT), to create a magical on-stage chemistry.

The Amano Project              (2010–2017)

The Amano Project was a dynamic contemporary fusion bellydance initiative founded by Tjarda. It brought together advanced dancers primarily from the Netherlands, but also from Belgium and the United States, celebrating diversity and innovation in dance. With a constantly evolving group of members, the project became a hub for creativity and artistic collaboration under Tjarda’s direction.

HipSick Unusual Theatre    (2007–2019)

From 2007 to 2019, Tjarda was a key member and Movement Director of HipSick Unusual Theatre. This physical theatre group pushed creative boundaries with their unconventional and innovative performances, seamlessly blending movement, performance art and storytelling in bold and unique ways.

UNMATA (2009-2014)

For five years, Tjarda was an honorary member of the world-renowned dance troupe UNMATA. Known for their groundbreaking approach to fusion dance, UNMATA’s dynamic performances and innovative style have inspired dancers across the globe, and Tjarda was proud to contribute to their legacy.

Movement for Humanity (2016)

In 2016, Tjarda and Hilde Cannoodt created “Movement for Humanity,” a 20-minute dance piece for the Ubumuntu Arts Festival in Kigali, Rwanda. The project brought together local dancers and fostered cultural exchange, aiming to strengthen Rwanda’s emerging arts scene. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, the initiative supported local artists while addressing themes of humanity and healing through the transformative power of art.
